All of our meat dishes are locally sourced, just up the M6 – from Pioneer Foods in Carlisle!
Pioneer’s are a proud family-owned company who have been offering their services to the local community since the 1800’s.
Supporting local food producers is a key driver for their business so you’ll always find that your meat is sourced in
Cumbria, and supports local farmers.

They do this by buying live cattle through Harrison & Hetherington’s auction mart in Carlisle. All of our Pork Dishes are sourced through Pioneer’s who source fresh Lakeland Pork on a daily basis from Maurice Wharton of Black Brow Abattoir, based near Wigton, Cumbria.

The heavenly baked, crispy bloomer bread and bread rolls you see on our bread starter are freshly baked each morning by non-other than ‘Cumbrian Artisan Bakery’ in Kendal. They provide a “real” alternative to the fast processed quick fix food which means their bread isn’t full of preservatives, but instead…  a feast for all the senses and ‘just out the oven’ fresh!

Beautiful to look at; sensual to hold; enticing to smell and delicious to eat. Even better, it’s good for the soul.

We source our ice cream locally from the English Lakes Ice-Cream company who supply us with EXCITING and bespoke flavours.

Based in the heart of the Lake District, English Lakes Ice Cream is a family business run by husband and wife team, Peter and Frances Fryer. For over two decades we have been producing luxury, traditional ice cream using carefully chosen, natural and – where possible – locally sourced ingredients.

These include flavours such as Thunder & Lightning, Salted Liquorice, Dealth by Chocolate and so many more!
